1:00pm - Thirsty Perch
Thirsty Perch comes
as a pleasant surprise to the West Michigan blues
landscape, where blues enthusiasts have long endured the
monotonous displays of blues / rock imposters. Formed only
a year and a half ago, Thirsty Perch is a refreshing change
from what passes for blues infusion. These guys can serve
up tasty morsels behind a driving rhythm section that is
sure to satisfy. Not only that, but the diverse
arrangements found in their reportoire lends testimony that
here are professionals who can travel the blues highway;
from the Deltas to Chicago`s Southside; from Memphis to the
West Coast, these cats can take you there ! Industry folks
should take heed when this band serves up a hot mess of
Perch tunes...you"ll have patrons coming back, asking for
seconds.
1:30pm - Cidy Zoo
Cidy Zoo is
a touring band featuring Bill Toll on vocals, guitar,
harmonica, and keyboards. The group can perform different
types of shows for different venues. We can perform an
"educational" blues review show featuring selections
performed in chronological order and accompanied with facts
and trivia about the artists and their material, beginning
with pieces performed on vintage instruments (Dobros &
acoustic guitars) starting with the earliest 1936 Delta
Blues recordings of Robert Johnson, classics by Sonny Boy
Williamson, Rufus Thomas, Tin Pan singers like Fats Waller,
the transitional electric Chicago Blues of Muddy Waters and
Albert King, country blues from the likes of Johnny Cash
and Willie Nelson, continuing through the Memphis sounds of
B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and ending with the
blues derivative sounds of artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan
and contemporary Detroit style blues artists like Larry
McCray (to list only a few).

the Motor City in the great state of Michigan, a group of
dedicated musicians have come together to create Jam

4:00pm - Kathleen Bolthouse
Band
Kathleen Bolthouse
has been singing the blues in and around Lansing since the
formation of her first band, Blues Xpress, in the late
90’s. Later, as featured vocalist for Frog & the
Beeftones, Kathleen opened for national bands including
Mark Hummel, and Rod Piazza and The Mighty Flyers. Kathleen
has shared the stage with national blues artists Larry
McCray, Memphis mainstay The Daddy Mack Blues Band, and San
Francisco's Tommy Castro Band. In 2006, after years of
sitting in with other bands and watching her own songs
gather dust, Kathleen formed The Blues Junkies. The Blues
Junkies quickly became a hometown favorite, playing clubs
and festivals in Lansing, Grand Rapids and beyond. Three
years later, with the release of their first album, No Way
to Live, The Blues Junkies have kicked the habit and are
now ” The Kathleen Bolthouse Band”. New name, same great
music! The Kathleen Bolthouse Band includes bass player Jon
Herrmann, Steve Dely on guitar, and Eric Payne on drums.
5:00pm - Crossroads Blues
Band
Winners of the 2009
Detroit Blues Challenge, the band has returned with a new
line up in some areas and the same faces in others but all
familiar faces. The band is doing new types and forms of
music for the listener's ear and most importantly, we are
having a ball doing it. Memebrs of the band have shared the
stage with the likes of the Coasters, Little Charlie and
The Nightcats, Tab Benoit, Studebaker John and countless
others.
6:00pm - The Flying Latini
Brothers
John Latini
was the winner of the 2008 and 2009 Detroit Blues
Challenges. John & Jim Latini grew up in New York
playing music around the family table – everything from
Hank Williams to Harry Belafonte, from the British Invasion
to the American Revival. By the time the brothers had both
arrived in Michigan, their catalog had grown to include
some jazz standards, some Rhythm and Blues, a lot of great
originals and a good dose of ‘da blues’, and it all comes
out in their musical wash. Twenty year veterans of the
Michigan music scene themselves, The Flying Latini Brothers
lineup also includes John Sperendi on bass guitar and Neil
Donato on keyboards, each with impressive musical resumes
of their own. John Sperendi has long been one of the Ann
Arbor area’s most sought after bass men – he’s played
extensively with such notables as Delta 88 and The
Hummingbirds. Neil Donato is a career musician boasting
stints in the US Army Band, Hoodang and City Goat. While
John & Jim Latini have sung and performed together
throughout their entire lives, Sperendi has been with the
band for six years, and Donato for two and this four piece
unit is tighter than a thumb puzzle.
7:00pm - Rusty Wright Band
The
Rusty Wright Band brings to the stage an electrifying,
blues-infused tour de force of rollicking musical interplay
that is as much fun to watch as it is to listen to. In less
than three years this act has made the leap from regional
favorite to performing at some of North America's top blues
festivals. They have shared billing with an eclectic array
of blues, roots and rock acts including Lynyrd Skynyrd,
Etta James, Charlie Musselwhite, Leslie West &
Mountain, Janiva Magness, Zac Harmon, Ronnie Baker Brooks,
Blessid Union of Souls, Billy Branch, Slaughter, Johnny
Winter, Alberta Adams, Rory Block, W.C. CLark, Bettye
LaVette and Mark Farner. This five-piece "energized blues
storm" takes audiences on a joyful, rolling tour of
souped-up Americana as hints of jazz, rock, country and
even gospel find their way into a veritable blues stew
dished up and served steaming hot with a healthy dose of
Motor City flair and attitude. It's a vibrant, honest
blending of sounds and styles that brings audiences to
their feet and leaves them feeling good!
8:00pm - David Gerald Band
David Gerald, the son of
Mississippi born and raised parents, grew up to the sounds
of the blues and R&B music in his hometown, Detroit.
He’s the 11th of 11 children, 6 of whom were born and
partly raised in Mississippi. “Because segregation and
racial discrimination were so bad in Mississippi, my dad
moved the family north to Detroit when he was 33, so we'd
have a better chance at the American dream. He reminisces
about that ‘til this day,” says Gerald.
9:00pm - Broken Arrow Blues
Band
Biography
Broken Arrow's style is pure Detroit Style" in your face"
Electric Blues & Boogie. From it's conception, the Band
has hit the ground running, releasing the first of three
CD's in just 4 months. The first CD saw ratings on the
Roots & Blues Music Charts straight away with 3 of the
cuts in the top 20 for weeks. Broken Arrow Has shared the
stage with Industry Giants like: Walter Trout,Three times,
twice by Walter's request!!! Ana Popovic,Twice!!, Johnny
Winter, & The Kinsey Report....not bad for a "NEW"
Band. The Band followed that up with a LIVE release, and is
poised to release the next studio CD & another LIVE CD
soon. The music of Broken Arrow Blues Band is a mixture of
Traditional Blues leaning heavy to the rocky side, with
some Funk mixed in and a flare of Jazz/Fusion interspersed
with non traditional changes and BIG Chords. The feel of
this Band could be described as Joe Bonnamassa meets Jeff
Beck handcuffed to Howlin'Wolf in a Taxi with James Brown
Ya'll... With members from all over the Globe , the
band is truly world class. Al Grebovic, from Mostar,
Bosnia, A 20 year Veteran Guitar Player, Shadowhawk Ellis,
from Louisville, Kentucky, A Circuit Mainstay & Drummer
for 35 years, & Peter Carter, from New Orleans,
Louisiana, Bass Man Fresh off the road from Cyril Neville's
Band, give the band a great mix of styles and a tendency to
cover all the bases in a Deep Grooved, Hard Hitting
performaces. Look for the Band to be at almost ALL
the Michigan Blues Festivals in 2010, and touring soon to a
venue near you.

10:00pm - The Boa
Constrictors
w/sgs
Steve Schwartz and Wailin' Dale of the Alligators and
Deb Seitz
Detroit Blues has
it's own distinctive style. It is very greasy, grimy, and
lowdown. It's industrial sound evolved from Delta Blues
with the northern migration for factory jobs during
Detroit's industrial revolution. It's birthplaces and homes
were Paradise Valley and Hastings Street.
The Boa Constrictors are a Detroit Blues band with a true
Detroit pedigree. When you come to a Boa Constrictors show,
you are hearing PURE Detroit
Blues with
a PURE Detroit
attitude.
Members of
the Boa Constrictors have been fortunate to share the stage
and to open shows for Luther Allison, Junior Wells, Sugar
Blue, Charlie Musselwhite, Jason Ricci and New Blood, and
the legendary Motown session-band, the Funk Brothers, as
well as acting as backing musicians for ex-Fleetwood Mac
guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Jeremy
Spencer.
Our main
course recipe comes from the harmonica bands of Little
Walter, Jerry Portnoy, Junior Wells, Paul Butterfield, and
Sonny Boy Williamson (1 and 2). We also throw in a dash of
Rockabilly for flavor.
We have a
heaping helping of Detroit Blues influence as well. The
members of our band have played with legendary Detroit
artists like Billy Davis, The Sharecroppers of Soul, John
Watkins, Lazy Lester, Little Junior Cannaday, the Butler
Twins, Harmonica Shah, and Uncle Jesse White.
Each and
every member of the Boa Constrictors brings their unique
life experiences to the table, both musically and
personally. From large festival venues, to the smallest
bar, or juke-joint, our shows are always spontaneous,
energetic, loads of fun, and full of the ingredients that
make Blues one of the most exciting American musical art
forms.
11:00pm - Motor City Josh and the Big
3
Josh is a straight
up singin', guitar slingin', songwriting, crowd-pleasing
Blues man. Son of a preacher man and woman, at 35 Josh has
achieved incredible success and proves to be one of the

loves him! Having played all over the US and in Europe
since 1989, his fan base continues to grow and grow, as do
his CD sales. Josh has recorded 9 albums and sold over
100,000 copies through his website motorcityjosh.com and at
his shows. Josh is popular for both his
award winning - Memphis International Blues Finalist 2003 -
foot stomping down-home Blues solo acoustic act, and his
electrifying 'Funky Blues You Can't Refuse' 4-piece band.
The Detroit native spent 10 years working up a MCJ frenzy
in the Motor City area, then moved to Atlanta in 1999 to do
the same. Based in Chicago briefly and now back in Detroit
- he's at it again, doing what he does best.... making
people smile, dance, and laugh!
